D&RGW GP603154 - 31563 units delivered
D&RGW received 3 EMD GP60's as wreck replacements for SD40T-2's #5402, 5408 and GP40-2 #3108 which were wrecked in a runaway on Tennessee Pass near Pando, CO. on Feb 7th of 1989. Tacked onto the end of a Cotton Belt (SSW) order, they exhibited (as built) all the features of the SSW #9665-9714, and were delivered in May of 1990. At the time of delivery, nearly 18 months into D&RGW ownership of the SP, it was speculated that these might be delivered in a new system paint. However, the three GP60's were delivered in the standard orange and black Rio Grande lettering and paint. Assigned to intermodal service, they were leased to SP in 1990 in exchange for three SD45T-2R's, and were seen systemwide. Later saw them in use on the Ski Train in Colorado. There are other differences between the six orders, check the SP/SSW/DRGW GP60 detail breakdown, for details of locos as delivered. Models available:
