10 units delivered

DRGW took delivery of 10 EMD SD9's in 1957. All were off the roster by 1991.

These units were often stored when business was slack. All units except #5305, were stored at one time or another. Those stored (except #5306 and 5308) were reactivated in 1988 when the SP was looking for power.

Although there were only ten units, a couple of variations appeared. #5310 has a non-standard headlight package, as in the above photo.

#5305 had an accident in 1972, and was rebuilt with an EMD supplied low-nose; then assigned to the hump at Grand Junction, CO.
