To reduce the maintenance on turbochargers, SP rebuilt a number of GP35's with non-turbocharged 645E engines, rated at 2000hp.

Not a real success, as far more GP35's were rebuilt keeping their turbo's. A similar experience with the rebuilt GP20's...

Other than the obvious lettering differences, there appear to be no detail differences between SP and SSW units.
