The Noon Daylight
A very comprehensive book has been written about the Coast Daylight by Richard.K.Wright.
Copies are still available from shops etc. if you are at all interested in this train, then I would advise the purchase of said book.
Having said that, this page will then be but a very brief overview of Train #94/95.
The Noon Daylight was introduced on March 30th 1940 due to demand for travel on the Mornng/Coast Daylight.
However, people preferred the ealier arrival times of the Morning/Coast Daylight and patronage did not meet expectations.
The Noon Daylight was discontinued for the World War II years not reinstated until 14th April 1946.
The Noon Daylight's last run was on 2nd October 1949 due to a lack of interest, SP then used the same equipment on the same run but as a overnight train called The Starlight Train 94/95.
