Description C-30-1 #11 composite caboose, was rebuilt as a prototype 'steel' cupola caboose. SP then built 50 virtual copies as Class C-40-1 #1000 - 1049 in 1937. The only difference noted was the production C-40-1's were ~5 inches longer at 35' 7/16" over striker castings than the #11.
