C-30-6's were the last cabooses built by SP for SP only, (no TNO order this time), in 1951, SP #1320-1369, all orders after this were bought from outside suppliers.

Originally delivered with a large toolbox as per earlier classes, photo's show this replaced by a smaller battery box. These also received upgradings in marker lights and radio antenna over the years.

Externally similar to the previous C-30-4 and C-30-5 class, originally painted all over mineral red, Daylight orange end walls were a 1955 specification and Daylight orange bay ends as per the 1961 spec. Orange stepwells was a sign of a post 1980 overhaul.

#1342 at least, received 'Trailer-Flatcar Service' lettering although still in mineral red and Daylight orange.
