Notes from Sheet 25A
- Maximum axle load of each deck on all cars listed is 5,000 pounds -- except cars SP 514008-414010 which can accept a 7,000 pound axle load.
- 40,000 lbs. is maximum Deck B load limit when deck height above rail is 10' 10" or below. If deck height above rail is 10' 11" to 12' 7", load limit is 30,000 lbs. Above 12' 7", deck load limit becomes 20,000 pounds.
- Load limit when Deck B is to be loaded to capacity. If Deck B load is below capacity of deck (by 10,000 pounds for example), then Deck A load limit may be increased by 10,000 pounds to 71,500 pounds. If Deck B is not loaded at all, Deck A load limit increases accordingly to a maximum 123,500 pounds
- 57,000 lbs. is the maximum Deck B load limit at 10' 7". At 11' 6", load limit decreases to 52,000 lbs.
- Load limit when upper decks are to be loaded to capacity. If upper decks are loaded below capacity (by 10,000 pounds for example), Deck A load limit may be increased by 10,000 pounds. If upper decks are unused, Deck A load limit may be increased by 40,000 pounds (maximum).
- When Deck A is 7' 4", upper decks have width of 8' 2". When 7' 5" or 7' 8" are shown, upper decks are 8' 4". When Deck A is 8' 4" or 8' 7", upper decks are also 8' 4" and 8' 7".
