SP MK-4 class 2-8-2 #3222 on the deadline in Bayshore Yard South San Francisco).
The shot was taken after it was set aside in 1953. The tender is off an old mallet and rebuilt to increase its oil capacity.

Linked above: Southern Pacific 3227 was a member of the Bay Area steam scene for the later part of its life. It was scrapped in 1956 but was seen in the Bayshore and Peninsula area often during the 1950's. This shot was taken in late 1954 in the Bayshore facilities.
