745 has been preserved in running condition by the Louisiana Steam Train Association.

They are desperately trying to raise awareness (and funds) for their group so that they may repair, maintain and operate T&NO/SP 745 and its 4 car consist for the Katrina affected New Orleans Area and beyond. In fact, our Engine and trainset is on display at KCUS right now. If you can help either by buying quality merchandise they have for sale from their shop or by simply donating to their appeal, please do, to help preserve the last 2-8-2 built by SP.

#786 was retreived and rebuilt 1990-1992, and until suffering damage, was used on the Hill Country Flyer operation out of Austin, Texas. It is currently under repair.
