SP inherited these two (of four) engines from the Minarets and Western Rwy in 1935. #3295 was M&W 102 and #3296 was M&W 104. Service was primarily on the Portland and Shasta Divisions.

#3295 was scrapped in 1953 and #3296 was sold to the Long Bell Lumber Co. which connected with SP at Bray, northeast of Dunsmuir.

Byron tells us that: according to info on the back of the photograph, the picture was taken about 1938 at Klamath Falls, the tender is a 70-R-2.
