Southern Pacific SD45R

SP SD45R #7551, This model is actually an Athearn SD45 that has been narrowed to scale hood width. This was a conversion done before Rail Power Products brought out their scale SD45 shell. Floquil SP Scarlet, Reefer Yellow and Engine Black, Microscale decal sheet #87-469

#7551 was the first SP unit to be painted in the SPSF Merger scheme aka 'Kodachrome paint'.

I also used the Railroad Model Craftsman March 1986 SPSF article, and the Model Railroader May 1986 Santa Fe article in building this model.

SP 7521 is a Railpower Shell on an Athearn chassis, with Smokey Valley #99 sideframes. Standard espee blood nose paint, Microscale #87-447 decals.
