Southern Pacific SW12001597-162327 units delivered
Starting with #1597 of the 1964 order of SW1200's, SP began to order all switchers setup for road service, with the fitting of MU capability and signal light packages, as well all SP SW1200's came with roller-bearing trucks. All were delivered in Blood Nose paint, and don't appear to have been rebuilt to SW1200E's, as this was an upgrading program of earlier technology SW1200's and even earlier SW7/9's. Here is a close-up of the equipment door found at the bottom of the cab of SP's SW1200's. Supplies! Re: 2285 From John.L.Cockle of the Parr Terminal Railroad, (a shortline serving a private marine terminal and several other industries in the Richmond, CA harbor area), comes this image of exSP SW1200E #2285. John notes that they also have exSP SW900E #1195 and NW2E #1335 (now numbered 1402). As well, John says, "you'll be happy to know we've done the best we can to retain the 'SP look', including the preservation and operation of all light packages. She's a good locomotive, and has a long life ahead of her." References:
