SP Structure Model Paint Mixes

These are paint mixes that I have gathered from various publications over the years. The list is far from complete, and is given, as are all the other lists, as suggestions. I have not yet had a chance to try any of these out, but I will have to start building some structures soon, It will make a nice change from train models.

Information found in the SP No.22 Combination Depot article, in the October 1991 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman, gives the following Colors

• Exterior:
  • Walls - 'Colonial Yellow'
  • Trim, door stiles and rails - Light Brown
  • Sashes - White
  • Roof - 'Moss Green'
• Interior:
  • Waiting Rooms and Offices - 'Interior Green', 'Sea Foam' and White
  • Toilet Rooms - Gray
  • Baggage Room - Black and Cream

Suggestions for a SP Handcar Shed - from Western Prototype Modeler Sept/Oct 1976.

  • - 2 parts Roof Brown #70 + 1 part SP Armour Yellow #133
• Roof -
  • - Depot Olive #44

• Walls -
  • - 1 part Reefer Yellow #31 + 2 parts Depot Buff #87 + 6 parts Reefer White #11
• Trim -
  • - 1 part Roof Brown #70 + 1 part Depot Buff #87
• Roof -
  • - Lark Light Grey #131

The author goes on to say that the custom mixed color for the walls, fades and weathers to a shade similar to Floquil Mud #83. Inferring I guess, that you may as well use Floquil 83 and be done with it.
