T&NO S1 #10 was delivered as part of the SP order, and was the lowest numbered loco on the system, (barring narrow gauge units), and is believed to be the first diesel to operate in Texas.
All units would likely to have been delivered in black, with either aluminum or white frame stripe and aluminum or white carbody pinstripe, with aluminum or white 'Southern Pacific Lines' lettering, (opinions vary as to the color), remembering that T&NO was a paper Company. Black and white photo's of S1's show the Orange Tiger Stripe, and possibly the later Halloween paint.
The S1 looks similar to the S2, although with a smaller engine, producing only 600hp, the radiator is not as big. The early S2's look like S1's in the carbody grilles, and they ride on the same Blunt type truck, so an S2 may well be a stand in for an S1.
