Texas and New Orleans SW1200113-118123-12812 units delivered
Texas and New Orleans received 6 SW1200's #113-118 in 1954, another 6 SW1200's #123-128 were delivered in 1957. Both orders came with MU, hood-mounted numberboards, drop-steps and full length handrails; considered as road units, they were painted in the road-switcher Tiger Stripes with aluminum ends. Most remained in Tiger Stripe paint until entering the rebuild program, although a photo in the 1977 SP Review by Strapac, shows #114 on page 12 captioned as being in 'Halloween' paint... Remaining units from both orders were combined and renumbered consecutively from #2213 to 2223 in the 1965 systemwide renumbering, except for #128 which was vacated in 1965. Starting in 1973 all remaining units were upgraded to SW1200E's and renumbered yet again in the 23xx series. References:
