Southern Pacific Diesel Locomotive Paint Schemes
Daylight
In 1947, SP received two sets of E7 diesel passenger locomotives that were delivered in a paint scheme similar to that used on steam locomotives.
In 1948, SP received the first of what became 39 PAs and 13 PBs in the Daylight scheme.
Eventually, SP ordered one E8 locomotive and nine E9 locomotives that were delivered in the Daylight scheme.
In 1958, some locomotives received the Black Widow paint schemes, and one received the Halloween scheme
Eventually, all were painted into the Bloody Nose paint scheme.
