© 1985, 1997 Stan A. Rothwell. Southern Pacific B36-7 #7754 leads an eastbound out of West Colton, CA on a hot 3 July 1985.

16 B36-7's were delivered to SP in 1984, after the successful test order in 1980 of the SSW B36-7's. Whereas the SP B23-7 and SP/SSW B30-7's have 4 (side) window cabs, the B36-7's only have 2 windows. The Bachmann B23-7 and the Rail Power Products B23-7 both come with the 2 window cab. The grille arrangement is slightly different on the B36-7's, but should be re-producible with the extra grilles that Rail Power Products supply with their B23-7 body shell.

Individual units can sometimes exhibit variations to standard, witness 7756, which has had a horn applied to the rear of the unit...
