Southern Pacific SD45

Athearn EMD SD45 by Cliff West renumbered and detailed using a Details West #200 nose light, #292 bell and #140 plow with MV 24 & 25 lenses.

One of the many detail differences between orders as noted on the SD45 Proto Page; was the handbrake arrangement.

The first order had a nose mounted ratchet handbrake and the rest had a rear long hood mounted wheel handbrake. This affected the long hood door arrangement, and Jean-Marie from Belgium has contributed drawings of the two arrangements.

L means 22" wide door; S means 18" wide door.

Jean-Marie has put into practice his drawings above with a modified P2K SD45 to represent the first order delivered with the ratchet brake handle.
